Urban Traffic Control (U.T.C.)

The Urban Traffic Control (UTC) systems pursue central management of coordinated traffic lights installations.

Through UTC systems the following objectives can be achieved:

• adapt the traffic light regulation parameters to the traffic conditions or to desired
• give priority to public transport at traffic light crossings
• improve the efficiency of traffic lights with a prompt and thorough diagnostics.

Project Automation RoadManager® solution implements a regulation model based on “plan selection”, which involves the execution of predefined traffic light plans. The plan activation can take place on a time basis, through a special schedule, or upon operator’s request or yet again it can be performed automatically on the basis of the actual traffic conditions.

Where necessary, especially in large cities. different UTC systems can be installed and managed in an integrated way; In this case, the control these UTC’s are coordinated through the Integrated Traffic Management System.
